Art Dubai : Booth D7

For its inaugural participation in Art Dubai, the gallery presents a group exhibition of paintings and works on paper by four pivotal female artists; Romany EVELEIGH (1934 - 2020), Simryn GILL  (1959 - ), Bertina LOPES (1924 – 2012) and Greta SCHÖDL (1929 - ). 

Eveleigh, Lopes and Schödl were all included in the 2024 Venice Biennale, and Lopes will also participate in the São Paulo Art Biennial later this year. 

The stand brings together Simryn Gill’s delicate ink rubbings of invasive plants on paper, Eveleigh’s serene minimalist paintings, and Schödl’s luminous works on paper and canvas, distinguished by her signature use of gold leaf. A highlight of the presentation will be two seminal paintings by Bertina Lopes—Viagem [Journey] I and Viagem [Journey] II—first shown in her landmark 1972 exhibition at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon. Created during Mozambique’s war of independence from Portugal, these works capture a defining moment in both the artist’s career and the country’s history.
