The massacre at Trelew, of 16 political prisoners in 1972, caused a huge public outcry and numerous demonstrations and events in retaliation. The massacre in Ezeiza the following year, in which camouflaged snipers shot out at a gathering of students and people gathering to celebrate Peron’s return was never officially investigated. The President (Campora) stated that at the time that: La sangre derramada no será negociada and here Vigo uses the sentence as a call that the blood not be shed uselessly and that the guilty parties be held accountable. It’s a powerful political statement.
