Magda Cordell was an artist, educator and futurist, whose ideological mantra was that "society needs to know where it has been before it can know where it is going". Cordell was a founding member of the Independent Group.
Her work is held in public collections including Tate and Albright Know in Buffalo, New York. After her first marriage to the composer Frank Cordell, Magda Cordell married the artist John McHale, a fellow founding member of the Independent Group.
