They were peacefully protesting against the Vietnam War. I made a poster of an image of one of the students from a newspaper picture and transformed it, changed it around, and put it up as a poster in the street with fellow students – I was a student at the Slade at the time. This was the first picture that I started putting into public places and into the street. It was a red dyeline print, so in the rain, it bled, like the image was bleeding. In the end it was completely blank so that people could use the paper to write their own slogans on it or whatever they wanted.” – Peter Kennard
