These messages countered those offered by the Thatcher Government’s public safety message of ‘Protect and Survive,’ which suggested Londoners close their net curtains to shield from a nuclear blow. This iconic image by Kennard shows Tower bridge cast in an end-of-the-world apocalyptic scene.2of 2
