The cut and paste moves made in ‘Earth 6’ (1988) here reveal the connection between the fossil fuel industry with its pivotal role in the military industrial complex and the destruction of our environment. ‘Oikos’ (οἶκος), the Greek root of the word ‘ecology’, can be translated as ‘house’. The earth here in this image is our home and is being ravaged by a burning oil refinery consumed by its own flames.Exhibitions
