This painting is from one of her most important bodies of work, the Woman in the World series, painted between 1984-86. The paintings from this series were made in response to conversations/interviews she had with women in Calcutta, Dar es Salaam, and Skive. She recorded the conversations, often hitting on traumatic events - rape, dowry practice, arranged marriage - and then painted in response to the conversations.Exhibitions
