Greta Schödl

Phileas - The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art

Greta Schödl's solo exhibition will be on view at Phileas - The Austrian Office for Contemporary Art, Vienna, Austria.

The exhibition will showcase an overviewof her work which she often overlays on everyday objects such as ironing boards, bed linen, stones, and paper. The focus is less on the content of the written text and more on the resulting visual form that rhythmically and decoratively interacts with the underlying surfaces. In her work, writing achieves a sense of autonomy that explores the relationship between language and image.

The exhibition will trace Schödl's artistic journey from the 1950s to the present day. In 2024, her work was included in the main exhibition at the Venice Biennale (Stranieri Ovunque - Foreigners Everywhere), curated by Adriano Pedrosa and supported by Phileas.
